20th July 07

So after completing my make-up course, i went to take up aesthetics course. It was quite fun but was never as fun as make-up. To me, make-up is fun becos i can play around with the colours and get to learn so many diff types of make-up but for aesthetics, we have to be serious cos we are here to learn to help improve one's skin condition by doing facial, massage, recommending the right products that suit their skins and make sure that they will not get allergy to the product. I feel like i'm a grown-up when i have to diagnos ppl's faces, consult them, recommending products, etc.(this was how i feel when i first started doing all these, but got used to it already) It seems like being a beauty therapist in the salon is easy and simple to anyone but the fact is, as a therapist, we have to know the body inside and outside as in the muscles, nerves, bones, skin, etc. There's so many things to learn, and everything has its contraindications and benefits. Practical was fun but not when the teacher asked us questions about our "clients" cos u will just suddenly stop what u r doing and think of the answers to the questions asked. Theory was not easy cos there's so many things we need to know and MEMORISE!!!

It seems like ages since i last wrote or update my blog. There were so many happenings within these four months. Firstly i went to take up make-up course. It was sooo fun. I never knew how to make-up before i took up this course. I know it sounds embarrassing but ppl who make-up doesn't mean that they knew exactly how to. To do a perfect make-up, you need the skill. It's not just about using eyeshadows or eyeliners, etc, it's how u make a person look attractive and how to emphasis the eyes if it's small for eg. Just two months, i'm able to make-up for anyone like brides, fashion models, etc, and no one could ever guess that i actually dunno how to make-up initally. Amazing, huh?

It was a bad day for me. My friend, Gurgit, make-up for me. It was alright at first but when it comes to doing the eyeshadow, she didn't focus. I mean it's ok if she can't make both eyes balance cos one is not perfect, but at least she should be able to see that one side is darker than the other. What irritates me is that she kept on adding eyeshadow on the darker side, which is totally wrong, the more she adds the darker it is. So why doesn't she not add more on the lighter side making both sides looked balance? And for the lips, it should be cupid bow, why is it that she follows my lip line?! I told her she has to make my lips cupid bow, yet she made it even worse that i have to draw it myself!!! Then i was so irritated that i don't feel like eating lunch and went straight to raffles place to look for my parents. I didn't know how to get to their office so my mum brought me there. On the way up the escalator in the station, the old man pushed me and said i blocked his way. I mean how can he do this? He should have asked politely. I mean yes, i admit i was wrong to block his way but he shouldn't have pushed me! I wanted to shout, "You are so damn rude, old man! Who do you think you are?!" but i didn't. My mum was also angry with his action. That stupid old man made my day terrible, i mean it was already bad when i got irritated by my friend, and the old man made it even worse....

After 3 days i have decided which school i want to go. Haha... My friends were right, NAFA is better in performing arts whereas LaSalle-SIA is better in design. Since Bernice went into LaSalle-SIA to take about the same course as me and my friend, Hannah, has attended the lessons there and told me to go LaSalle-SIA, i think i should listen to her. I may be able to see her there on the orientation day in july, which is good, cos at least i know one friend there so i won't be so lonely. Guess wat? Hannah and I are going to take the same course, fashion design! I was surprised when she told me... haha...

21st Mar 07

I received the letter of acceptance from NAFA this morning and i was so happy but puzzled cos i don't know which school i should go now since i was accepted by both LaSalle-SIA and NAFA. It was a good thing but i had trouble deciding cos both schools have their good points. NAFA focuses only on fashion design, whereas LaSalle-SIA does not. The first year is foundation studies where first-years have to learn everything about design, it's good to learn all but bad cos i'm afraid i may not like some of them. The good thing about LaSalle-SIA is that it provides degree programmes, so i don't have to go university to get a degree since i can get it after finishing four years in LaSalle-SIA. Since i paid the school fees for 1 semester for LaSalle-SIA, i should go there right? But i'm confused, as NAFA's my dreamschool ever since i was 15 years old. Some of my friends want me to go NAFA, some LaSalle-SIA. Even my parents can't decide for me as they agree that both are good schools and i have to make a choice. The most important thing is where or what i can or will do in the future, isn't it?

19th Mar 07

Finally I have something to write about since January. I was offered a place at LaSalle-SIA and had to give payment on 12th March but i only gave it today after much consideration. It was a pretty difficult choice as i want to go NAFA. I went for the Entrance Exam at NAFA on 7th March and i can only know my status next month. NEXT MONTH!!! It's way too slow as i don't know if i can get into NAFA and i already received the letter of offer from LaSalle-SIA. Both are good schools so it's really hard for me to decide, but since i can get refund if i pay for the school fees for LaSalle-SIA and decided to go NAFA after the results come out, then i make the payment first so i don't have to worry about not being able to have a place at LaSalle-SIA. Even if i have paid for the school fees, i'm still worried as i have to decide which school i want to go, LaSalle or NAFA? Both have their pros and cons so it's very hard to decide. So which school should i choose? Hope someone can give me some advice or their opinion...

31st Dec 06

This was our last day in Perth and our flight back to S'pore is at 1am the next day. Since we didn't get the chance to go to Magaret River on Wed, we took the chance to go there today. Our coach captain, Adam, brought us to the Dawesville Channel for Morning Tea. After tt, we went past the Magaret River towards the Xanadu Winery where the clothing were much more expensive than the wines themselves. My parents didn't buy any wines for the wines were either too sour or bitter. According to our observation, not many ppl buy wines only a couple bought. While ppl were tasting the wines, we walked down the vineyards and for the first time, we saw grapes within the vines but of coz they're still green, not ripe yet. They will only be harvest in Feb, according to our coach captain. Then, we went to the Eagles Heritage Raptor Centre where our tour guide, Philip, introduced us to some eagles and owls such as the wedge-tailed eagles and barking owls which barked like dogs and screamed as if a woman was being murdered. I saw this handsome guy, abt the same age as me, but not from our tour... so sad... we went for lunch which was the same for the past few days... so boring and the food really sucks! After lunch, we went to the free-flight display where eagles were being handled up close and audience, us, were in awe at their amazing speed. Then, we went on to the Mammoth Cave, one of over 300 natural underground limestone caves in the district. It was very cold inside and beautiful. Later, we travelled South, passed by stunning Boranup Forest, a visual highlight of the region before arriving at the Augusta's famous Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, which marked the dividing point between the Southern and Indian Oceans. Then, we returned to the North, took a break where we had our light dinner at the Busselton Jetty, the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere and then returned back to Perth, arrriving at approximately 9.30pm... It was a long day... We went back to the hotel to have some cappuccinos with marshmallows and stayed up all night without sleeping. At abt 11.30pm, the maxicab came and brought us to the Perth International Airport. Our flight was 1 am and so we went to buy some clothes, nougats and chocolates in the airport and then boarded the plane back to S'pore and arrived here at abt 7 am...(The 1st photo was taken in the Mammoth Cave and the other photo was taken at the Leeuwin Lighthouse)

30th Dec 06

We went to Barrack Street Jetty by mini-coach but it's very comfortable. Our coach captain, Philip,a very dashing young man in his 20s i guess, brought us to the jetty and would be bringing us back to Perth later on. We boarded the high-speed ferry,'Star Flyte' towards Rottnest Island. The ferry was terrible when it's travelling along the Indian Ocean, my bro, sisters and me felt sick. I'd tavelled on ferry for abt 3 times already in Australia and this was the first time we got seasickness. We were so greatful tt we had arrived and after alighting, we were introduced by a tour host, Colin, there. We first went to the lighthouse alone without the tour host becoz he has to bring the other couple to some place. We climbed the 155 steps lighthouse and viewed the magnificient views below from the lighthouse. Then, we returned back to where we first boarded the mini coach up to the lighthouse, and headed towards the museum. After tt, we went to the Salthouse, there's not much to see only photos of the past. Later, we went for our buffet lunch, it's not tt bad, at least it's much better than those lunches we had few days ago. There's barranmundi, very delicious, a kind of fish. After eating, we still had some time before going for the reef & wreck semi-submersible boat tour, where we could view the fishes and two shipwrecks underwater in the boat without getting wet!!! cool huh?! haha... It lasted for abt one and a half hrs, then we went to the cafe to have some afternoon tea, we ordered cappuccinos, hot choc and some sliced cakes. I saw this handsome waiter and guess wat? We saw a Quokka! It's so cute and adorable, how i wish i could bring it home. A Quokka looks like a big rat and a small kangaroo... well, it's a mixture of this two mammals... it's hard to explain... and the Quokka just hopped around the cafe!!! We rested for awhile before going back to the jetty. It was VERY windy and we reboarded the Star Flyte back to Barrack Street Jetty in Perth at 5pm. Then went to Shun Fong Restaurant(Chinese),which was very near the jetty, for dinner. The food there was quite nice and can view the seagulls and the ocean and in the water, u could see jellyfishes!!! (The 1st photo was taken at the Rottnest Island and the other photo is a Quokka)
